March 8th, 1986 – Martina Navratilova is 1st tennis player to earn $10 million.

March 8th, 1998 – Ray Nitchske, former Green Bay Packer, passes away at the age of 62.

March 8th, 1999 – Former New York Yankee center fielder Joe DiMaggio passes away at the age of 85.
