The Mets Need A Fire Starter

Lets be honest, Mets fans you are all very frustrated and to be quite honest you have every reason to be. Your team has one of the best era in the majors but can’t hit. Your manager more often than not looks like he has no idea what he is doing, and the player you brought in to be the power hitter you were missing last year, has given you a total of 6 homers for the entire season. Yup if your a Mets fan there really isn’t a lot to smile about right now. Add in the inconsistency’s of Mike Pelfrey and the list of reasons to give up on this season, just gets higher and higher.

This season is over, so there really is no reason to even talk about it anymore, instead lets focus on the one piece that the Mets absolutely need, this player can be at any position, it would help if he were one of the better players, but he can be a bench player or someone from the Bullpen, either way the Mets must go out and find a mouth piece, find the jerk who will not bite his tongue, the one who will chew his teammates out, and give quotes to the media that will surely leave the Wilpons shivering in fear. I’m not talking about the type of jerks who fights bullpen coaches and beats up old people in front of women and children, I’m also not referring to the kind  who clearly isn’t helping the team, but refuses to take a demotion to the minors, those kind of players are called cancers, and should be disposed of immediately.

Unfortunately the cancer is exactly what the Mets have, and their front office is so backwards they cant seem to tell the difference between a cancer and a jerk. Oliver Perez is a cancer, Paul Loduca was a jerk. But the Mets couldn’t deal with Loduca’s mouth so they didn’t resign him, K-Rod for all of his talent is clearly a cancer, Billy Wagner was a Jerk. While K-Rod Beats up on old people and bullpen coaches when he gets mad, Wagner would chew his teammates out, and hold himself personally responsible when he or the team did not do well. John Maine, may not be able to help the team, but you never had to worry about his work ethic, and even when he was out there soft tossing strikes, he still had more success than Perez did this year, unfortunately for Maine, his velocity is gone, and probably right along with his career as a Met. But what I am trying to say with this is that the Mets more than anything need to stop chasing off players with passion. Thats one of the biggest issues with that club house, there are too many players who would rather stay quiet and go with the motions. How is it possible that everyone seems to be so cool about K-Rod assaulting 54 year old in front of women and children, why has no player come out and blasted Perez for taking up space that someone with actual skill could be using, and why is it that when the Mets have had a player who did these things, they always seemed to be shown the door, but other players can beat their wives possibly have raped someone, or kicked their father in law’s butt and all they get is a little slap on the wrist?

K-Rod Arrested

So to whoever is running this team in the off season, find that player, and when you bring him in don’t do like this team has done in the past, appreciate him for what he brings to the table, and watch him light a fire into a team that for the last four years has had as much fire as a puddle of water.
