Rob DiRe complained about Stan's NFL Power Rankings so much that Keeping It Real Sports called his bluff and gave him a chance to prove he could do it better. Queens, born and raised, Rob got his start in sports media with WHCS, Hunter College's #1 Radio Station. As a Macaulay Honors College and Hunter alum (and a WHCS Hall of Famer), Rob is a staff writer for ProFootballRumors.com and a contributing writer for TodaysPigskin.com and TodaysFastbreak.com. He also coaches football at Holy Cross High School in Flushing, and is a practicing sports agnostic.

Rob made some great points last week. And I think I would suffer through another terrible season if it meant the Giants would get hot and win a Super Bowl. Here’s the problem though. I don’t want Jerry Reese running this team anymore. He doesn’t draft well and does nothing with draft picks in the later rounds. So from that aspect, I wouldn’t want them to win a Super Bowl because we’d be stuck with another few years of Jerry Reese.

Eli Manning was almost benched late in the 2007 NFL season, as his performance was putrid over his first four years leading up to that game, causing Tom Coughlin's face to grow redder than Stalin at his worst. A few heroics from Plaxico Burress, David Tyree, Michael Strahan, and Justin Tuck (along with major meltdowns from Asante Samuel and Rodney Harrison) brought the Giants four playoff wins, including a Lombardi Trophy that year.

Isn’t it crazy how I’m lower on the Giants than Rob is? Is it overcompensating? Maybe. I’m just really disappointed in my team and they have a really tough schedule ahead. Maybe I’m just bracing myself for the inevitable. I should be higher on the Bills like Rob because like him, I believe in their defense but I can’t have faith in a team led by Kyle Orton. But…I digress.

At just about midseason, with every team playing at least eight games, Stan and I are doing things a little different. The Power Rankings will be tiered for the rest of the season, as some teams are starting to group together and others are really separating. This should be a lot of fun, as we flip-flop teams in and out of certain groupings every week.
