Everybody Hates Obama

On the evening of November 4th 2008, this mans celebrity was matched with no other. People openly celebrated in the streets, with the realization that each and every person experiencing this event had now become a part of history. Yes, when things were going good for President Obama, they were very very good. Barrack Obama came into office as two things, the first ever African American President of the United States, and Possibly the most Popular President since the great John F. Kennedy. He was the golden boy. The man that came up from humble beginnings, to rise up and become the President of the United States, and the confidence of the entire country was behind him. Over a year since that fateful November 4th Obama faces a congress that is unconvinced with his Health care plan, an American public that is now unsure of his performance as president, and Politicians from all sides trying to capitalize off of what seams like a shift in opinion of the embattled President. They at one point loved and adored him, but as of today it seems that everyone hates Obama.

Let’s go over some of the reasons that the American people are so frustrated with Obama.

  • Exhibit A: Struggling Economy.- One of the things that President Obama promised to Address as president was America’s struggling Economy, he was swift to point out the deficiencies of the current administration, and how he would fix their mistakes, and offer instant relief to the American people
  • Transparency in the Government or lack there of- During the Bush Administration, many things were done in the dark, that when American citizens learned of were very upset about. His administration set a standard of secrecy, keeping information from the very people that voted them into office. While making Questionable decisions and trying to cover it up with political rhetoric. Obama promised to make the Government more transparent and shifting away from the mistakes of the bush administration
  • Health care- Obama campaigned for Universal Healthcare, something that many Americans wanted, as the current health care structure of a free market was struggling mightily in the recession.

Since then Obama has gone from candidate, to President elect, and now the President of the United States, but the love fest that existed when he was first put into office has already seen its painful demise. The economy that he so blatantly promised to bring back to life has continued to struggle as the unemployment rate continued to grow. His deceleration that Guantanamo Bay would be closed has pretty much turned into nothing but empty promises as the facility still remains open to this day. Along with what many Americans see as a broken promise, he has also failed to remove troops from Iraq instead sending more troops to Afghanistan. This occurring with constant pressure from republicans who seem to disagree and criticize every decision that Obama makes its not hard to see how the same American people who voted for him, could now be questioning his motives and even losing faith in him. But what many people seem to forget is that the ship that Obama has promised to save, was one that was already far into the depths of the ocean. He did not start this recession, there were issues with health care and wall street way before he came into office, and to be quite honest far bigger blunders have occurred from other presidents. But for many people, Obama has become the poster child for what they see as a struggling America. The hope of change which was so prevalent in the months preceding his election has evaporated into the abyss instead shifting the momentum of the voters to republicans who have capitalized off of this trend of anger towards the president; and now with Health Care reform on its last legs, it will be a wonder to see how the American people respond.

It is widely believed that if Obama can not pass this bill, it will be the end of any possibility of running for a second term. With so much opposition against him, it makes you wonder how things could have changed so fast, when he was elected Political leaders from all across the board agreed to work towards the common goal and now that things are not going as planned, it seems like America’s first African American President may be doomed. If things keep up at this pace we just may have the first one term president since the first Bush.  Which brings me to the conclusion that everyone hates Obama
