On October 30, 2001, President George W. Bush stepped to the mound at Yankee Stadium to throw out the first pitch at Game 3 of the World Series, just six weeks after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. That night the first pitch meant more than just “play ball.”
The votes are in and the final rosters have been revealed for this year’s MLB All-Star game taking place on July 15th at Minnesota’s Target Field home of the Twins. A few new faces are on each roster but the biggest story will be the one old face making his final trip to the midsummer’s classic. Derek Jeter voted in as an starter in this year’s game will be making his 14th and final all-star game giving a fitting tribute to one of the game’s best short stops.
