Tony Romo

In last week’s power rankings, Rob brought up a good point and his point was sort of reiterated on the post game coverage of Monday Night Football. After Colt McCoy and the Redskins upset the Cowboys, Steve Young, Ray Lewis and whoever the hell else was out there were actually discussing the idea of whether RG3 should be the starter when he returns from injury. Are you kidding me? The very idea of starting Colt McCoy over a healthy RG3 is ludicrous. And at some point, you have to consider the fact that these white coaches and white front office people prefer their white quarterback. In one of the more culturally diverse cities in the country, its sad that things like this are still a topic of conversation.

So for those of you who are looking for insight about each and every NFL team, you might be disappointed. I basically ignore the bottom ten teams of the power rankings. For those of you who are looking for me to focus my efforts on embarrassing one player who didn’t ask to be put in the crosshairs, you will be more than satisfied. It really comes close to unhinging the whole concept of dueling power rankings and falls dangerously close to a rant. I definitely make a declarative statement that a white guy shouldn’t be in position to make.

Also, what the Cowboys have done the past six weeks has been nothing short of incredible.

Hey guys, Stan here. I don’t have any funny quips or movie lines this time. I’m a little down. Victor Cruz went down, the Giants got shut out and there was a tie last week in the NFL. I hate ties. I’m not going to be cliche and say that ties are like kissing your sister, but I will say that ties suck. Ties are the reason I refuse to watch soccer unless its during the World Cup. And of course, when theres a tie in the NFL, theres gotta be that one idiot that comes out and says, “I didn’t know there were ties in the NFL.” How do you not know there are ties in the NFL? Don’t football players watch the NFL? If you worked at McDonald’s would you also “not know” that theres a dollar menu?

Coming into this week, I didn’t think any of the games were going to be very entertaining but it turns out I was wrong. In the 1 o’clock group of games, there were some real barn burners, none more exciting than the Chargers-Chiefs game that came down to a late touchdown pass from Phillip Rivers. But that in itself sets up the point I want to make. Three weeks ago, if you had to guess who would win this game, most people would have said the Chiefs. Hell even before the game, most people would pick the Chiefs at home over the fraudulent Chargers, but it turns out the real frauds are the Chiefs. Sure they lost Tamba Hali and Justin Houston to injury, but giving up 38 points at home is pretty bad. Now what happens when they play a team that can stop Jamaal Charles? Or a team that can drive down the field like the Chargers did. Even the Broncos, who are much more talented than their opponents, had to come back and win on the road. My point is that the AFC is full of frauds. They may have looked like great teams early on but are they good enough to beat their NFC counterpart? On to the rankings.
