NFL 2015 Power Rankings – Week 3

32. Cleveland Browns (1-2) (32) – Why did they go back to Josh McCown? Its not like he’s THAT much better than Johnny Manziel. This is how bad teams stay bad. Next game: @ San Diego Chargers

31. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-2) (31) – Jameis Winston looked like an NFL quarterback for a bad team. Thats as good of a compliment as you’ll get from me. THATS. IT. Next game: vs Carolina Panthers

30. Tennessee Titans (1-2) – Go back to last week’s power rankings. See what I said. It applied then, it applies now and it will apply most weeks. Next game: BYE

29. Chicago Bears (0-3) (29) – Again, told ya. Next game: vs Oakland Raiders

28. Washington Redskins (1-2) (28) – You guys know Kirk Cousins isn’t good at football right? I know that I know. I’m fairly certain if you’re reading this that you know it too. I don’t think the Redskins know it. Next game: vs Philadelphia Eagles

27. Jacksonville Jaguars (1-2) (26) – They did as much as you would expect them to do against the Patriots. That is all.

26. San Francisco 49ers (1-2) (24) – Four interceptions though? Come on. The Cardinals defense is good but

25. Oakland Raiders (2-1) (27) – I think I like this Raiders team. Derek Carr is the best quarterback they’ve had in years, Latavius Murray seems to be a solid running back and Amari Cooper is really good. They need to get younger on defense though. Next game: @ Chicago Bears

24. New York Giants (1-2) (25) – I’ll reserve judgment on the Giants for now because while they did win, they beat the Redskins. Next game: @ Buffalo Bills

23. St Louis Rams (1-2) (22) – Are we sure the Rams are good? They beat up on the Seahawks in week one and spirits were high, now they’ve lost two straight games to the Redskins (ugh) and the Steelers, whose defense isn’t looking great. Fortunately, I didn’t think the Rams would be that great this year anyway. Next game:  @ Arizona Cardinals

22. New Orleans Saints (0-3) (21) – No one thought they had a real shot to win without Drew Brees. They haven’t even been winning with him. The Panthers are playing really good football right now and the Saints are back to being the Aints, it would seem. Next game: vs Dallas Cowboys

21. Houston Texans (1-2) (23) – I’m only moving the Texans up two spots because they beat the Bucs. In the words of the great Shania Twain, that don’t impress me much. Next game: @ Atlanta Falcons

20. Miami Dolphins (1-2) (20) – I can’t move them up but I don’t want to move them down either. They got smacked by the Bills. That can’t be denied. But in fairness, the Bills defense is really good and they were coming off of an embarrassing showing against the Patriots. Next game: vs New York Jets

19. Detroit Lions (0-3) (16) – To their credit, they hung in tough against the Broncos and they did as much as they could. The Broncos defense is pretty good, especially in the secondary and defensive line. Next game: @ Seattle Seahawks

18. Kansa City Chiefs (1-2) (17) – Theres a bright side. A Chiefs wide receiver finally scored a touchdown. Hasn’t happened since 2013. So, theres that. Next game: @ Cincinnati Bengals

17. New York Jets (2-1) (15) – Sloppy, sloppy football. Too many turnovers and the linebackers really didn’t pull their weight. They’ll have to step it up against a Dolphins team looking to bounce back from a bad showing. Next game: @ Miami Dolphins

16. Buffalo Bills (2-1) (19) – Tyrod Taylor looks like the real deal. I like when things like that happen because too many teams focus on getting a quarterback early in the draft and they neglect the other guys that have talent and can develop. I’m not saying Tyrod Taylor was some phenom at VaTech, but having watched him play every year in the ACC, I can tell you that he was no slouch. This comes to no surprise. Oh yeah, and the defense is really good. Next game: vs New York Giants

15. Baltimore Ravens (0-3) (11) – We can only pray that Steve Smith Sr demands a trade to a good team so that he doesn’t have to languish on this terrible team anymore. We need to start a movement. #GetOldManSmiffARing Next game: @ Pittsburgh Steelers

14. Atlanta Falcons (3-0) (18) – Remember on Hey Arnold when they were on the basketball team with the coach’s kid? His name was Tucker and the only play in the playbook was “Pass the ball to Tucker”. I think the Falcons have a similar playbook where the only play is “Pass the ball to Julio” and you know what? Its working. Next game: vs Houston Texans

13. Carolina Panthers (3-0) (14) – Can we just have them play the Falcons for the NFC South crown now and save ourselves 13 more games of Cam Newton being Harry Houdini? Next game: @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers

12. Cincinnati Bengals (2-1) (13) – AJ Green loves playing against the Ravens. He always destroys them. The AFC North is wide open and the Bengals have to take advantage now. Next game: vs Kansas City Chiefs

11. Minnesota Vikings (2-1) (12) – Two in a row…this is going to be the easiest playoff spot ever. Next game: @ Denver Broncos

10. San Diego Chargers (2-1) (8) – The Chargers couldn’t stop Adrian Peterson, but then again who can? The Vikings defense really shut down the Chargers for the most part. Rivers couldn’t even finish the game. Next game: vs Cleveland Browns

9. Philadelphia Eagles (1-2) (10) – No Demarco Murray? No problem. The defense took advantage of some stupid mistakes by the Jets and came away with the win. What does it say about Murray over the past two weeks that Ryan Mathews ran ALL OVER a really good Jets defense? Next game: @ Washington Redskins

8. Indianapolis Colts (1-2) (9) – I think we all knew they’d turn it around. Granted, it wasn’t easy against the Titans but a win is a win.Next game: vs Jacksonville Jaguars

7. Dallas Cowboys (2-1) (4) – They lost in a shootout. No big deal. Give them credit for being able to be in a shootout without Tony Romo or Dez Bryant. Next game: @ New Orleans Saints

6. Seattle Seahawks (1-2) (7) – Its “Get Fat” time for the Seahawks and they got real fat against the Bears. Great to have you back Bam Chancellor!! Next game: vs Detroit Lions (MNF)

5. Pittsburgh Steelers (2-1) (6) – What a weird game. No one could get into the end zone and Big Ben went down with an injury. I don’t know how they’ll respond going forward but I guess that Michael Vick signing turned out alright, didn’t it? Next game: vs Baltimore Ravens

4.  Arizona Cardinals (3-0) (5) – The Cardinals are a very good football team. I’m really happy for Bruce Arians. Everyone is clicking at the same time. Carson Palmer is playing well. The running game is playing at a high level. The defense just put a clown suit on the 49ers. These guys are real. Next game: vs St Louis Rams

3. Denver Broncos (2-0) (3) – I’m a little on the fence about this sort of hybrid offense the Broncos are running. Peyton wants to play out of shotgun, Kubiak wants him under center so they settled for a pistol formation with a running back in the backfield. You know what though? Its working and they’re undefeated. Next game: vs Minnesota Vikings

2. Green Bay Packers (3-0) (2) –  I mean, as long as Aaron Rodgers draws breath, the Packers are always a threat to be this high in the power rankings. The Chiefs never had a shot. Next game: @ San Francisco 49ers

1. New England Patriots (3-0) (1) – Patriots gonna Patriot. It was the Jaguars, lets not make this a huge thing. Move on. Next game: BYE
