For The Love Of The Game?

In sports there are your good days and your bad days similar rules apply in relationships as well. These two worlds come together when discussing the private lives of star athletes and the women they love.

The Good
The glamour of fame and fortune has attracted many to star athletes that have been able to use their relationships to help build their overall brand. The marriage of basketball star Carmelo Anthony and television personality Alani “La La” Vasquez has grown from being just a union of two successful people. Vasquez was able to star in her own VH1 reality series based on the couple’s preparation for the wedding day giving the world a intimate look into her life. Carmelo has been the subject of trade talks in the NBA this season and the top team interested are the New York Knicks who offer the stability career wise for him and his wife. Carmelo Anthony’s decision is not only made for his own benefit but his wife’s as well who prefers living in New York City and building her brand alongside his thriving career.

The Bad
The power couple formula doesn’t always work for the better as in the case with star football player Reggie Bush and reality TV star Kim Kardashian. Kim Kardashian has a reputation for dating various athletes and entertainers making her an automatic paparazzi magnet. Reggie Bush was a standout star player in college with a promising NFL career on the horizon. In 2007 the two began their relationship and since Bush has yet to reach the goals expected of him from college. Bush’s name is brought up more in celebrity gossip news instead of his play on the field probably leading to their eventual break up last year. Kim has kept herself busy with new advertisement opportunities and a new television show with sister Kourtney. Kim has also moved on to a new baller in New Jersey Nets player Kris Humphries while Bush is still trying to make his mark in the NFL.

The Ugly
It seemed like a romantic dream when actress Eva Langoria met NBA player Tony Parker. The couple was married in 2007 and has since gone from being media sweethearts to domestic drama central. Parker was caught allegedly texting inappropriately with the wife of former teammate Brent Barry last November. Parker admitted to having an affair leading to a quick divorce that was settled a few weeks ago. Parkers innocent public image is now forever tarnished among fans and players around the league. Langoria has gone from being a hot young actress on the rise to a bitter barely working woman. Langoria recently filed for bankruptcy for her restaurant in Las Vegas for being around 5.7 million dollars in debt.

It’s commonly said that “Love Conquers All” but nowadays its more like “Love & Business, How Can We Make It Work?”
