Martin Truex Jr. led just one lap the entire 2014 season. But, Sunday afternoon was different. He continued his hot start and dominated Pocono by leading the most laps with 97. He picked up the checkered flag to get his first win in nearly two years (Sonoma 2013). Winning at Pocono snapped his 69-race winless streak and clinched a spot in the Chase. This win was his third Sprint Cup victory of his career.

Truex’s Furniture Row Racing team had raced the same car each of the last three weeks with positive results. Although, He wasn’t victorious, he led the most laps at Kansas (95), Charlotte (131) and Dover (131).

Treux was greeted at victory lane by his girlfriend, Sherry Pollex and best friend Dale Earnhardt Jr. Truex had overcome many obstacles personally and professionally. Last season he struggled all season and finished 24th in points. For the past 18 months, his girlfriend was battling cancer. She had various organs removed, including her ovaries, fallopian tubes and sections of her stomach. In addition, Truex’s grandmother passed away this past Wednesday.

In 2015, Truex has been the most consistent driver out on the track not named Kevin Harvick. We are only a third of the way through the season and he has already picked up 13 top 10s and four top-fives. I feel we are going to see Truex continue this success and be a big time championship contender in the Chase.
