Grammy Winners Performing At Sports Events

In honor of tonight’s Grammy Awards here is a look back at some past Grammy winners bringing their talents to sports fans around the world.

Beyonce: The winner of 17 Grammy awards had an unforgettable performance at the Super Bowl

in 2013. The event took place at the Mercedes Benz Superdome in New Orleans. The singer is

considered a goddess to her fans, left them speechless as she entered the scenario covered in red

smoke while she was arising from the bottom of the stage. The 34 year old “modern feminist” as

she describes herself, surprised her public by bringing Destiny Child’s (the band she was part of

before becoming a solo singer) members as guests.

Shakira: FIFA must love the Colombian singer who has performed three times in the World Cup.

Her first appearance was in Germany in 2006 where she showed everyone why her hips don’t lie.

In 2010, the Grammy award singer closed the World Cup that took place in South Africa. Shakira

made the public dance with the “waka waka” single. Lastly, in 2014 she made the spectators of the

FIFA World Cup in Brazil enjoy the closing of the ceremony during her performance. The bilingual

artist moved her hips to her “la la la” song.

Madonna: In a very Egyptian themed entrance, the 56 year old singer performed at the 2012

Super Bowl’s half time show celebrated at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Many people

dressed as Spartans carried the singer who shared stage with LMFAO, Nicki Minaj and others.

Jay Z: If you watched the World Series in 2009 you’ll understand why Jay Z, the winner of

numerous Grammy’s and many other awards, deserves to be in this list. In the game where the

New York Yankees defeated the Phillies, the singer performed the song “Empire State of Mind”

next to the also talented Alicia Keys. Click here to listen to the catchy song and watch the

performance:

Michael Jackson: The now deceased artist made the whole world sing and dance with all his hits.

Jackson performed during the entire halftime show at the Super Bowl in 1993. The show was

ranked one of the best halftime shows in history. Held at the Rose Bowl Stadium, in Pasadena,

California, the singer proved why he earned the title “King of Pop”.
