Five Thoughts: College Football 2013 – Week 11

5 Thoughts on Week 11 of NCAA Football

1. The Crimson Tide continue to roll. Alabama really separated themselves from the pack in the SEC with their huge win over LSU. There’s no question who’s been the best team in the nation over the past few years and Alabama is looking like they’re going to threepeat.

2. Barring any upsets, the title game is set. Now that Oregon has lost to Stanford, they’re out of the national title picture. That leaves three unbeatens at the top of the rankings. Alabama and Florida St will probably run the table, which leaves Ohio St left out in the cold. I think that’s for the better because FSU is a more complete team than OSU and has the best chance to beat the Crimson Tide.

3. Hurricanes can’t stop the run. Contrary to popular belief, the Hurricanes have no issues running the ball. Most people think that without Duke Johnson, the Canes have no running game but Dallas Crawford and Gus the Bus have carried the load well in his absence. The problem is that they can’t seem to stop big plays on the ground. As good as the defense is, VaTech’s Logan Thomas executed the read option and play action plays perfectly, keeping the defense surprised and on it’s heels. The ACC Championship isn’t out of their grasp but it’ll be a little more difficult now.

4. The Heisman is Money Manziel’s to lose. Johnny Football is very entertaining to watch and despite what he’ll turn out to be in the NFL, he’s one of the best players in the country and he should win the Heisman. The only guys that could win it are Jameis Winston and Brett Hundley. Hundley will get screwed over because he doesn’t get the exposure that the other guys do. Winston don’t win it because he’s surrounded by so much talent. That defense is as much a reason for them winning and dominating the opposition as much as he is.

5. Its the Big10 and the Lil8. Ohio St will probably finish undefeated but they don’t deserve to play for the national title because their conference isn’t any good. Its not their fault and they have a talented team with Braxton Miller and Carlos Hyde. Why should they benefit from beating teams like Purdue and Illinois?
