Tank For Wiggins

The #TankForWiggins division is a fairly easy division to be in. It has become one of the most popular divisions of the league. Certain have even made the necessary moves to make sure that they belong in the division. Most would question why would team take this route to obtain a future All-Star, but that should not be the question at all. The question is why more teams with suffering rosters aren’t joining the division. An anonymous GM said this

“Our team isn’t good enough to win and we know it. So this season we want to develop and evaluate our young players, let them learn from their mistakes — and get us in position to grab a great player. The best way for us to do that is to lose a lot of games. This draft is loaded. There are potential All-Stars at the top, maybe even franchise changers. Sometimes my job is to understand the value of losing. I know that sounds crazy, but if you’re an NBA general manager like me, the last place you want to be is in the middle.

To some, this may sound crazy, but to me this sounds like the words of a very smart man. Why not call a spade a spade and accept the fact that your team is horrible and trying very hard just to be a 12th seed will gain nothing at all. Who was the GM, well we do not know that question but I can tell that this GM will be making sure his team will be on a losing path

Here are the following teams in the #TankForWiggins Division:

Philadelphia 76ers The Sixers are introducing Allen Iverson and his retirement from the game on Friday night and that will most likely be the most exciting event happening all season. The Sixers are the leading candidates for #TankForWiggins. This team is FULL-ON tank mode; nothing will stop this team for taking the losing path. Granted they have 2 good role players in Evan Turner and Thaddeus Young and a promising rookie in Michael Carter Williams but other than that the roster is just terrible. Jason Richardson couldn’t maintain is starting position because he has become overweight (I am not joking, this is the exact reason he does not start). Nerlens Noel is shut down for the whole season as he rehabs his knee. #TankForWiggins isn’t just a hash tag for them; it is a way of life.  Near the beginning of the season, the Sixers will introduce their D-League team, The Philadelphia 76ers.

Phoenix Suns                                                                                                                                                                                             Gerald Green and Eric Bledsoe will make some head turning highlights for this team but that’s about it. The Suns traded Martin Gortat, one of the few back to the basket players for a center who is shut down for half of the season. If that doesn’t spell tank then I do not know what it would mean. I mean seriously, I can imagine the twins doing tricks at halftime that would be more entertaining than their play. So far the Suns are in second place in this division but they are not that far from the Sixers.

Utah Jazz                                                                                                                                                                                          Let’s sum up their offseason shall we, they lost Al Jefferson & Paul Milsap to free agency, they drafted Trey Burke who fizzled in the summer league and broke his finger, and finally but very least Richard Jefferson is their possible starting small forward. While the Jazz are a team that can pull wins out of nothing but the Utah air but are candidates for this division. It seems that anyone who would like to stay in Utah will get a pay raise (Derrick Favors 4/$49m & Gordon Hayward, possible 4/$44M) While both are fairly decent players, those two will not make them leap out of the division

Orlando Magic                                                                                                                                                                                        This is a team I DO NOT want in this division. I actually like the players on this team from Tobias Harris, Nikola Vucevic and Mo Harkless. I have seen games where they have played intense for 3 quarters and then magically flop in the 4th (Saw What I Did There!). That is the exact reason why they are in this division, not partially because they are terrible but by adding Wiggins to a team like this will introduce a young and rejuvenated team. So basically I am saying that if the Magic wanted to join this team, they have my blessing, to create a potential playoff team in a couple of years

Toronto Raptors                                                                                                                                                                                            Andrew Wiggins is from Canada, where the city of Toronto is in. Wiggins’ favorite artist is Drake, who is now currently the Global Ambassador for the Raptors. Wiggins stated he would love to play for the Raptors, I don’t know how to connect the dots any better. Toronto, trade Rudy Gay and tank…..No one would care or notice, so let’s make it happen

Some may look at #TankForWiggins as a travesty; I see it as an opportunity. Life would be much better for the owners, GMs and players if they obtain Wiggins the “Right Way”. We all saw what the Cavaliers did to land LeBron James, why not let the teams in this division take the Ricky Davis way out and just lose on purpose. It will be a win-win for everyone.

Especially since tanking only boosts their chances of landing him and doesnt Guarentee them getting him. its a high risk that can end with not getting him or another franchise changer. meaning more years in the crapper. With that much of a gamble being taken, i cant see this as a bad thing.
    Good article.
