UFC 121 Recap: A New Champion Is Crowned

Brock Lesnar is no longer the UFC Heavyweight Champion. Last night in Anaheim CA, Lesnar (5-2) lost to undefeated challenger Cain Velasquez (9-0) at the Honda Center. With the win, Velasquez is the first Mexican heavyweight champ in combat sports history.

What’s most surprising about the fight is the way Velasquez won the bout. Many people (myself included) assumed this was going to be a five round slug fest. Apparently, Cain didn’t get the memo.

04:12 into the first round, Referee Herb Dean stopped the fight as Lesnar was on the business end of a brutal ground and pound from Velasquez.

In my opinion, Brock needs to work on his cardio and his stand up if he wants to have a chance at beating Cain.
